METAL EVENTS LIMITED’S PRIVACY POLICY

At Metal Events we are committed to protecting and respecting your privacy. This policy (together with our Terms & Conditions and any other documents referred to on it) explains the basis on which any personal data we collect from you, or that you provide to us, is held, how we use it, the conditions under which we may disclose it to others and how we keep it secure.   1. Information we may collect from you

We collect information about you when you complete a registration form (and the online payment transaction confirmation) for an event and every time you send or provide your details to Metal Events Limited.

This includes any information provided at the time of registering to use our site, including joining our mailing list or accessing news stories on our website communities, or requesting further services, registering via our online booking system, filling out registration forms, or contacting us, or accessing a delegate messenger system.

If you contact us, we may keep a record of that correspondence. We may also ask you to complete surveys that we use for purposes to research and improve our conferences and events, although you do not have to respond to them.

Details of your visits to our site including, but not limited to, traffic data, location data, weblogs and other communication data and the resources that you access.

We use cookie technology on our web site. We may place a cookie in the browser file of your computer. We use the cookie to provide functional information about your browser, allowing us to provide you a better experience and to gather broad demographic information and general usage patterns about you and other users of our sites. If your browser rejects cookies, you may still use our site. The only drawback to this is that you may be limited from accessing certain areas of our site. Some third-party websites may also use cookies on our site.

We may also use web beacons, which are small image files that Metal Events may place on web pages and within web-based email newsletters that we send. Working in conjunction with cookies, web beacons allow Metal Events to accurately count the number of unique users who have visited a specific page on the Metal Events site and the number of times those pages are displayed. We can also use web beacons to let us know how many people opened a web-based email newsletter. This information is only collected in aggregate form and will not be linked to your personally identifiable information.

We use server log data to help administer the site, to better understand the parts of the site and what types of content are most interesting to our site users, and to measure volumes of traffic. Each time a Metal Events page is requested from your browser, we log your computer’s IP address into our log files. Your computer has been pre-assigned a 12-digit number. This number is the IP address. We use your IP addresses to analyse trends, administer the site, track your movements on the site, and gather broad demographic information for aggregate use.

We may also sometimes obtain information from third parties. We protect any information obtained from third parties according to this policy, plus any additional restrictions imposed by the source of the information. Personal information is sometimes supplied to third parties engaged by Metal Events Ltd in order that they can take steps to verify that the personal information we hold is current and accurate and to tell you about our conferences and events that may be of interest to you, and they may, on our behalf, seek to contact you in this regard. We will ensure that any such contact is limited so as not to be intrusive and they will always identify the purpose of the contact and make it clear that they are acting on behalf of Metal Events Ltd.

If you are an existing customer, we will only contact you by telephone or electronic means with information about goods and services similar to those which were the subject of any previous sale to you.

Whenever we process information for these purposes we will ensure that we always keep your personal information rights in high regard and take account of these rights. If you do ask for your information to be removed it may make it difficult for us to deliver all the services you require or expect as an attendee at our conferences.

  1. DISCLOSURE OF PERSONAL INFORMATION

If you agree to attend one of our conferences or events, there are several ways in which your contact details will be shared.

Your company will appear on our websites and other promotional materials promoting the event.

Your name, job title, company name and your email will be available to other organisations attending the event so that you can contact and organise meetings during the conference. Your information is supplied to them on the strict understanding that it is not used other than for this express purpose.

In certain circumstances we may have to supply your details to our suppliers about a conference you are attending. This may include, but not be limited to, hotels and technology suppliers, companies providing visa invitation letters, who provide services for the conference. In such circumstances the information made available will be the minimum necessary and will be supplied strictly on condition it is only used for that purpose.

In we sell or buy any business or assets, in which case we may disclose your personal data to the prospective seller or buyer of such business or assets.

If Metal Events Ltd or its assets are acquired by a third party, in which case personal data held by it about its customers will be one of the transferred assets.

If we are under a duty to disclose or share your personal data to comply with any legal obligation, or to enforce or apply our Terms & Conditions and other agreements; or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Metal Events Ltd, our customers, or others. This includes exchanging information with other companies and organisations for the purposes of fraud protection and credit risk reduction.

  1. STORING PERSONAL INFORMATION

All personal information will be stored subject to organisational security measures which we have in place to protect against unauthorised or unlawful processing of personal information and against accidental loss or destruction of, or damage to, personal information. However, the transmission of information via the internet is not completely secure. While we will do our best to protect your personal data, Metal Events cannot guarantee the security of data transmitted to our site and any such transmission is at your own risk.

Metal Events Ltd will take reasonable steps to ensure the reliability of any employees who have access to personal information.

Personal information may be accessible from locations where our staff are located at any given time in various parts of the world outside the European Economic Area. Where any such transfer is made outside the European Economic Area we will always ensure that an adequate level of data protection is in place.

If you decide to opt out from receiving information we will remove your email address from our database and suppress any other details we hold on you. If you do not attend one of our events for a period of three years we will not contact you again.
